Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies

Educational Summary

Finished High School at Mountain View High School in Mesa, Az

2 years of general studies at Mesa Community College 3.3 GPA

Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies with concentrations of Business and Spanish. The reason why I chose BIS and my concentrations is explained in detail below, afterwhich you can read more about my internship with AmeriFirst Financial.

Why I chose BIS as a major?

I chose BIS as a major because; I could not pass up having the opportunity to integrate and study two of my passions in life, Business and Spanish. Never did a major sound so fitting and enticing to me than did the BIS degree.  Having the ability to go outside the box and study things that interest you are both very important to me. Furthermore, I believe this degree helps people become more well- rounded. Being well-rounded is something that more and more employers seem to be looking for these days.

Why I chose Business and Spanish as my concentrations

The reason I chose Business is simple, I have always been interested in learning more about how businesses work and operate. Likewise, I have always had a desire to someday start my own business. There were a couple reasons I chose the Spanish concentration. The first reason was because I served a mission in Chile for a couple years and learned the language pretty well, but knew I still needed to work on some areas and wanted to better my skills. Secondly, I saw the demand and how advantageous it was to be bilingual especially in the southwest.

Internship with AmeriFirst Financial

My internship at AmeriFirst Financial was a great experience for me and I was able to develop my marketing and sales skills while at the same time expanding my Spanish vocabulary/skills. I was also very fortunate to be able to learn more about the mortgage industry and I know my experience will benefit me in my career no matter where I end up.
